Paying forward, for generations
SaveCoconut is the organization of 7,000 former COCOFED Scholars whose education was funded by the coconut levy beginning 1975 and who desire to pay forward. In 2013 the SaveCoconut Foundation Inc. (SCFI) was incorporated, and in 2016 its economic arm, the SaveCoconut Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SCMPC), was formed. Members include professionals, businessmen, lawyers, engineers, agriculturists, chemists, accountants, educators, scientists, economists, bankers, and officials in government and private sectors — with membership extending abroad.
Under a 2023 MOA, SaveCoconut is a developmental partner of the Philippine Coconut Authority in implementing the CFIDP, assisting coconut farmers, their organizations and local government units to avail of Shared Processing Facilities for market-driven coconut products. PCA also recognizes SCFI as a conduit for local and foreign donations and grants benefiting coconut farmers.
On November 5, 2024, a joint team of Chito Delorino (SCFI Chairman & President) and Dr. Ofero Caparino for SCFI, with Engr. Eduardo Villamor (SCMPC Chairman) and Atty. Rodrigo Reyna for SCMPC, oriented the coconut farmers and Municipal LGU of San Francisco, Surigao del Norte on the SPF. San Francisco has 1,000 hectares of coconut, more than 1,000 NCFRS-registered farmers, and a 1,000 sqm LGU-provided lot. The CDA registered SAFASACOFACO to co-manage the facility.

The coconut levy
Through P.D. 276, 582, 1468, 961 and 1841, coconut farmers paid ₱15–₱30 per 100 kilos of copra — 10–25% of their income. That levy financed the Cocofed Scholarship from 1975 (1st batch) to 1981 (7th batch). Republic Act No. 11524 of 2021 created the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Trust Fund, disposed under the CFIDP for rehabilitation, modernization, farmer welfare, planting, research, training and infrastructure.
The logo
The coconut is held by a hand with five fingers representing the clusters — NCR, Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and International. The crown represents the priceless value of the coconut as the tree of life. The two circles represent global business impact and adaptability to advancing technology. Green in “Save” refers to the young coconut; brown in “Coconut” to the matured coconut. The logo was designed by Atty. Rodrigo A. Reyna.

Membership structure
Membership was originally confined to former COCOFED scholars and a few associate members. For continuity it now includes children and descendants, plus associational membership approved at the 2025 Quezon City convention. Farmers join their own SaveCoconut Farmers Cooperative (SCFC), not SCMPC; at least three SCFCs may form a federation.
